After a career spent helping the devout through prayer and trickery, Reverend Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) invites a film crew to document his final fraudulent days as an exorcist. When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.
Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.
Produced by Hostel director Eli Roth, The Last Exorcism is a possession horror in the tradition of The Exorcist, but shot in the documentary style of Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, or if you really want to delve back into the archives, Umberto Lenzi’s grotty man-eating epic Cannibal Ferox.
The recently unveiled trailer shown here is the first glimpse we’ve had of The Last Exorcism, directed by Daniel Stamm, whose last movie was the disturbing A Necessary Death in 2008.
Set on a dilapidated Louisiana farm, Reverend Cotton Marcus agrees to perform one final exorcism on a possessed teenager. Desperate for a bit of cash, Marcus consents to carry out his rites in front of a documentary crew, and the gory, shadowy events shown here is some of the resulting footage.
The trailer is crammed with plenty of familiar horror movie tropes – aggressive backwater yokels and screaming, lank-haired women, but Stamm’s previous form could make The Last Exorcism a late summer fright-fest worth keeping an eye on.
The Last Exorcism is due for release on 27 August.

OK, the key to survival as a young actor is summed up in one little three letter word: FUN. 4. Create, act and act again. Write your own work, do a play, visit friends, go hiking in the mountains or the desert, go to the beach. Live a full fun life. It comes into the room.
I’ll write more later. I had a TV audition yesterday that went great, they loved it and I had fun. Then I had a movie audition today. The director laughed said great job and that was that. What happened? I don’t know. Nothing probably. I made someone laugh today, I acted a scene on tape and had a good time doing it. I’m on to my way acting class for teens this evening. I love acting, even if it’s just an audition. I don’t go for the job, I do the job at the audition room.

A Vision Board is a set of visual images that represent a story about you. This story focuses on what you want and what you are presently grateful for. In John Assaraf’s The Vision Board Book: How to Use the Power of Intention and Visualization to Manifest the Life of Your Dreams, he writes, “The stories we tell ourselves shape our lives. They shape who we believe we are, and this belief translates into who we become…A vision board is…the story of your life—of the life you want.” A vision board can be as contrived and detailed as a large collage with pictures, magazine clippings, words, affirmations, and so on, or it can be as simple as a picture of your hero or idol. A vision board should be located in a place where you can see it often and really integrate its message into your psyche.
To harness the Law of Attraction, you must plant the seeds of change. This is exactly what a vision board can do. Let’s say, for example, that on your vision board is a picture of someone in a Boston Celtics uniform, and you taped a picture of your face over the other person’s. Each time you see this, your brain becomes more and more familiar with the image. It might have been a bit laughable at first, but in time the brain says, “Why not? That’s possible. Every Celtic started somewhere.” John Assaraf writes, “That image starts percolating in your mind, both consciously and subconsciously, and you start putting out feelers and taking action, day by day, that moves you closer to the dream.”
A great example of a “vision” board in action is from the ending of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry is almost dead, laying on the edge of a pond in the forest. Creatures have begun to suck his soul out of his body, but then he sees an image representing his dead father. The image gives him strength, and he miraculously fights off the evil creatures. Later, he realizes that he had traveled back in time and created that image of his dad. His friend asked how he was able to fight off the creatures. Harry, whose future-self saw his dying-self succeed, said, “I knew I could do it because, well, I’d already seen myself do it!” To use a Law of Attraction Vision Board, collect the images and words that inspire you. Put them together in an attractive display, and let them soak in by putting them somewhere you’ll see often. It’s that easy.
